I Never Thought I Could - Picking Out Your Boudoir Session Outfits

Trying to figure out what to wear at your boudoir session? We've got a few tips to help you out:

 1. Wear what makes you feel sexy. Boudoir sessions are all about bringing your sexy side, so if you put something on and you feel uncomfortable, move on to the next option. Consider it sort of like searching for the perfect wedding dress. When you put it on and can't help but spin in front of the mirror or think, "Heck yes, I'm sexy!" then that is the piece you should wear on shoot day.

 2. Consider what he likes, too. Maybe he loves you in the color red, or he still talks about that little number you wore a couple years ago. If he's into sports or a certain hobby, play into that, as well.

 3. Opt for lingerie that flatters your favorite parts. If you've got an impressive rack (yes, we're going there), then choose something that really shows of that feature. Maybe you're a fan of your own derriere and want to show him the goods, too. Choose a piece that accentuates whatever features you love most about yourself.

 4. Footwear matters, too. It's so easy to go into a less-than-classy vibe depending on your footwear. Our suggestion: keep it simple.  Instead, opt for shoes that scream "sexy sophistication." FYI: Heels can also do a lady good when it comes to posture and accentuating muscles in her legs.

Avoid these Boudoir Faux Pas During your Session

The last thing you want is to be worried about not being ready for your session!  Keep these tips in mind as you're preparing so that we can have a fabulous session together!

Bad Tan Lines/Sunburn – If you have not been tanning recently, don’t tan just before your session. You can get sunburn or really bad tan lines, which are not flattering in photos. Also avoid spray tans at all cost, as they tend to photograph poorly.  I don't do extra fixing for tan lines!

Getting drunk at your session – If you are nervous about your session, it’s OK to have a glass of wine to rest your nerves. That said, don’t get wasted before or during your session. This is one of the worst things you can do. Your eyes will be bloodshot and droopy and it’s just a recipe for disaster.  I limit you to 1 drink and I would highly suggest not enjoying any pre-session drinking.  You will regret it.

Choosing the wrong sized outfits – Choose lingerie that is just the right size for you. You don’t want loose lingerie that gives your body no shape or hides your beautiful curves. On the other hand, lingerie that is too tight can be unflattering.  Try on everything you are thinking of bringing.  Does it pinch?  Bunch?  Does it give you weird lumps?  Then I'd suggest you reconsider.  If you're stuck, remember I have a studio wardrobe that we can use! Just bring a nude and a black thong with you so we keep things sanitary.

Heavy Makeup – This one isn't normally an issue because we include hair and makeup in our sessions.  But sometimes we might run a special that doesn't include it.  In those cases, I strongly recommend getting a makeup artist for your session. You don’t want to slather the makeup on too thickly. It’s more about accentuating your natural features and making you feel – and look – stunning.

Forgetting to shave/wax – Always remember to shave or wax any exposed area (this also includes your crack ;-) ) that needs to look smooth and sexy. The ‘au naturel’ look is so ‘70s. Unless you’re going for that vibe, please remember this tip.

Boudoir Inspiration!

We’ve been photographing A LOT of BRIDES preparing for some amazing GROOM’s GIFTS the past few months. This month’s boudoir outfit inspiration is taken from those “something blue” pieces we’ve seen so much of. Each of these looks is perfect for any blushing bride that is looking to do something less traditional. Also, a great look for those celebrating anniversaries; a bridal touch and a super sexy flair!

Soft Whisper Hues

Don't be afraid to go light!  Especially on dark skin tones, lighter shades of blue can look phenomenal.  On light skin, the lighter colors can even add a little pop and give you a springish, sea-inspired look.

#sexysaturday - Lacquer & Lace

You can't go wrong with black and lacy!  Both things are exceptionally sexy and perfectly flattering.  Add in some items from our wardrobe (like our cuffs & crop!) and even our swanky new thigh high boots and you'll have a look to kill for!

#sexysaturday - Plumb Wild

Be a standout in a bright purple with cheetah print mixes!  The daring look is fabulous to slim the waist - plus the plunging neckline gives the girls an awesome view!

Let Them Eat Cake #sexysaturday

Rock a classic look in a pretty peach bra & panty set!  Which one is your favorite look?

Sexy Saturday - Crimson Peak

Stuck on ideas for your session?  Check out this steampunk inspired red collection.  While I'm not usually a fan of adding too much to your look in terms of props and accessories, this is one place where it fits well!

Finely Feathered

Light & airy, this Finely Feathered palette is the perfect fit for those looking to do a bridal inspired session.  The modest teddy/bodysuit is perfectly flattering to a variety of body types (great for hiding problem tummies!).  The Classic & Daring sets pair a complimentary bra & panty set that you won't rush to take off.

Seeing Spots - What to Wear Wednesday

I love polka dots.  Its such a timeless look and it looks fabulous on so many body types.  Dainty dots for a more girlish appeal and larger for a taste of years gone by.  Go with dots on a sheer fabric (similar to the Daring look below) for something a little more racy.

Mesmerizing Blue

Blue is such a flattering color on so many people (especially with the variety of shades!).  I love the romper from the modest selection because it is perfect for hiding those little flaws that we all complain about - like tummies.  The bralette in the daring is great for those with smaller boobs just due to the lack of support.  But for those sporting a bit more up top, check out this Refinery29 article for some ideas.

Dark & Moody

This dark & moody set is absolutely perfect for a stunning black & white acrylic or metal wall art piece.  Imagine yourself laying on the bed, with one knee laying over the other, pulling down on the garter straps of the modest slip.  Or get daring in a the bondage inspired criss-cross straps of thebra & panty set.  Toss in a leather paddle and you'll have him begging for mercy.
