Doing Work In Unique Places

Get Creative & Get Stuff Done

I recently ran across an article on the Barnes & Noble website entitled, 5 Books Written in Crazy Places - a short and interesting read if you have a few minutes. It talks about how certain books were authored in the most unlikely places - like Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling being written at a pub or As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner being written at a power plant while the author ignored his employment duties.

Imagine then, what you can do wherever you are! Catch up on your e-mails while waiting at the dentist’s office; make your to-do list while sitting at the driver’s license office; detailing things you are grateful for while you wait for breakfast to be served at your favorite restaurant or perhaps a quick mindfulness meditation while stuck in traffic (keep your eyes open!). There is no need to merely be “burning daylight” - you can make use of your time whenever and however you’d like. Just be creative.
