Post-Pregnancy & The Mom Bod
A story from a client:
"I had a baby during Covid. I had already gained about 15 pounds before I found out I was pregnant, and I was lucky to only gain another 35 pounds during my pregnancy. However by the time I had the baby and overcame my postpartum depression, I was still about 60 pounds up over my normal weight. I had a new baby, so working out and dieting weren't exactly on my radar. My body did not feel like my own. I was heavy, uncomfortable, I had all these new lumps and bumps. My skin was soft and saggy. I was exhausted mentally and physically. I did a boudoir session a few years back before we started trying for kids, and I am so happy I was able to do that even though I never hit that 'weight loss goal' I had for that particular session. Now I am sitting here looking at my images from my most recent session post-baby and I love them just as much as the ones I did before I got pregnant. I really considered cancelling my session because I just wasn't feeling up to it, but I am so happy that I didn't. I know my body isn't perfect, but honestly that's just life and no matter what I am confident in myself and can say that these images will always mean so much to me and be a testament to how strong women are. I love my mom bod and the fact that I was able to give life to my baby girl. The last few months have been all about caring for her, but this session was about caring for me. I think this is something all women should do after having a baby. Media tells women that mom bods are something to be ashamed of, but looking at my images I don't feel ashamed at all. I feel strong, powerful, and gorgeous. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to experience another amazing session at your studio."
