PrePayment Options

Let’s celebrate!

New in 2019! A prepayment for products! *Happy Dance*

I hope this helps with the savers among you to secure your date while being able to pay for your products early. Think about it - you can arrive at your session completely paid for your product! No stressing.

So how is this going to work?

Payment options will be offered on collections only. At least for now. If this option goes well, we could consider expanding to a la carte products as well.

You’ll decide what collection you are interested in first. If you’re unsure, I suggest pre-purchasing only what you are comfortable with price wise. Collections start at $2500 and go up to $5000 but you are welcome to add on.

We’ll set up a recurring payment in Square so that you will be charged automagically each month. In general, I’d probably suggest starting this 6 months prior to your session so you have plenty of time to save. This is a great time to remind you that all prepayments are nonrefundable. So again, only purchase what you are comfortable with. However, you can always upgrade at your reveal when you see all your amazing images.

Also do note, as this is a recurring payment it is expected that it will be charged without issue. If for some reason the payment is declined, I will reach out for an additional form of payment (because, let’s face it, these days we cycle through cards due to fraud semi regularly and I can’t always remember what is on what until it gets charged). You will have a finite period of time to respond with a working payment. If you fail to respond, your payment plan is null & void. Non-refundable. The time frames will be outlined in an agreement that will be provided and signed, so you can’t tell me you didn’t know.

If you need to reschedule your session, your payment will travel with you, but again, if you cancel, non-refundable.

Since this is becoming an option, that means changes are coming to post session payment options. While I’m not doing away with them completely, there will be a minimum purchase to enable that option.

As always - do bring a payment method with you to your reveal because chances are you’re going to love so many more images than you thought that you’ll want to upgrade!

If you already have your session booked and you want to consider this option, drop me an email: krista@unleashedboudoir.com.

The Fabulous Rori!

(Pssttt there’s some nudity below. So if you’re at work, or you work for Facebook, don’t scroll down!)

Rori is another of my outstanding 2018 Brand Ambassadors and she wrote this blog post just for all of you, so enjoy!

Sexy is not something I generally “do”. I’m not much for satin and lace...or so I thought!

Modesty isn’t really my issue. As a swim instructor and pole sport competitor/coach, I’ve gotten used to spending the bulk of my days in bathing suits and skimpy sports bras.

Lingerie and glamour, on the other hand, intimidated me. So when I finally decided to take the plunge and schedule a boudoir shoot with one of Arizona’s top #boudoirphotographers I was excited to push out of my comfort zone.

ROri 1.jpg

The day of my shoot, I arrived early to the studio to meet Krista and her hair and make up-artist. The pampering treatment made me feel a like a princess, while I relaxed and enjoyed a glass of wine (yay for wine in the morning—a rare delicacy for a mom!) Since I didn’t have any fancy lingerie of my own, Krista styled me in some hand selected pieces from her extensive  collection. She was thorough in posing and guiding me, and her relaxed and happy vibe made me feel like I was hanging with an old bff. To my surprise I felt really comfortable and at ease, (except for the back arching—even for a seasoned power athlete like myself, arching and angling yourself into camera- flattering positions was not so comfortable lol. Touché Tyra Banks, you were right, modeling really ain’t easy). Not too long after my session wrapped up, I received a sneak peak photo from my session.

ROri+2.jpg

The photo was so beautiful I couldn’t believe my eyes! Krista has a gift for helping her clients unleash their inhibitions. Her ability to coax out your inner-vixen and capture it oh-so-perfectly is unparalleled. A boudoir session with her is an experience of a lifetime. Do it!

Let's Get Lost Together - Ms A - Phoenix Boudoir

I met Ms A at a bridal event earlier this year and my fearless assistant convinced her that she should ignore the quizzical looks of her coworkers (she was working the event too!) and sign up for a session.  I'm pretty certain she's glad she did!

Tucson Boudoir Introduces Ms J

Ms J is a recent Tucson convert from Oklahoma.  She loves being active and outdoors - which is a great fit for Arizona!  When she's not working as a dental hygienist she's hanging with her daughter and boyfriend.

In her words:

My sister did a boudoir shoot a couple years ago and showed me her pictures, and I thought that she looked amazing and it made her feel more confident with herself. I have thought about doing a boudoir shoot ever since her experience. Now I am at a point in my relationship where we have gotten comfortable and I am wanting to do a shoot to regain self-confidence and to rekindle a fire in my relationship.

"I want to remember that I am beautiful regardless of a few extra pounds and some stretch marks.  I find my personality to be what makes me beautiful. I am caring and often think of others needs before my own."

If you want to unleash your sexy side and find some extra confidence, I encourage you to reach out so we can plan an amazing session!

Ms A Unleashed - Tucson Boudoir

I met Ms A through a mutual friend (at a Pure Romance party!) and I was so excited when she decided to book a session with me!

She is 25 and is an aspiring Project Manager.  We had a lot of fun during her session which was mostly a gift for her but a little bit of her boyfriend.  Since she tells me he's the man of her dreams I'm fully expecting her to be back to shoot a grooms gift in the near future.

In her words...

I am really intrigued with how beautiful and free everyone looks in these photos. I want to see the sexy side of myself (I’m not usually the forward/controlling type).

5 Questions About A Boudoir Session!

I'm really nervous. Is that normal?

It is definitely normal to be nervous for your boudoir session, so don't worry. Most of our clients are nervous until the session has gone on for a few minutes. After it starts, you’ll begin to loosen up.  Plus I'm really awesome at being a dork so you'll have plenty to laugh at.

How do I know how to pose?

Don’t worry about posing. I've totally got you covered in that department. I know lots of tricks to create the most flattering angles for you, no matter what shape or size you are.  I also will demonstrate the foundational pose and general gist of what I want you to do.

Do your packages include hair and makeup?

Absolutely!  I believe that every woman deserves some pampering so all of our sessions start with professional hair & makeup to give you a chance to relax.  But I promise we're just going for an amp'd up natural look - nothing crazy!

Am I allowed to bring alcohol to help loosen my nerves?

As long as you're over 21, I have no issue with a pre-shoot drink. We do offer champagne, wine or beer at your session to help you relax.  Plus we've got non-alcoholic stuffs too.

 Do you provide the wardrobe?

Yes & No.

No - I prefer that you provide your own wardrobe.  I want something you like, that is meaningful to you.

Yes - I do have a studio wardrobe that you're welcome to pull from or we can supplement what you brought.  If you are interested in using it, please do let me know so I can pull some items for you.

Have a question that’s not listed here? Contact us and we can answer it for you.

Have you met Ms M?

I met Ms M at a bridal expo here in Tucson and I was so excited to have her in front of my camera.  She had these eyes I didn't want to stop looking at.

She was getting married and wanted to do something special for her fiance.  She also wanted to show herself that she was as sexy as he says she is.

I think we can agree that she is definitely as sexy as he thinks.

If you think Ms M is looking sexy and you want to unleash your sexy, let's chat!

Avoid these Boudoir Faux Pas During your Session

The last thing you want is to be worried about not being ready for your session!  Keep these tips in mind as you're preparing so that we can have a fabulous session together!

Bad Tan Lines/Sunburn – If you have not been tanning recently, don’t tan just before your session. You can get sunburn or really bad tan lines, which are not flattering in photos. Also avoid spray tans at all cost, as they tend to photograph poorly.  I don't do extra fixing for tan lines!

Getting drunk at your session – If you are nervous about your session, it’s OK to have a glass of wine to rest your nerves. That said, don’t get wasted before or during your session. This is one of the worst things you can do. Your eyes will be bloodshot and droopy and it’s just a recipe for disaster.  I limit you to 1 drink and I would highly suggest not enjoying any pre-session drinking.  You will regret it.

Choosing the wrong sized outfits – Choose lingerie that is just the right size for you. You don’t want loose lingerie that gives your body no shape or hides your beautiful curves. On the other hand, lingerie that is too tight can be unflattering.  Try on everything you are thinking of bringing.  Does it pinch?  Bunch?  Does it give you weird lumps?  Then I'd suggest you reconsider.  If you're stuck, remember I have a studio wardrobe that we can use! Just bring a nude and a black thong with you so we keep things sanitary.

Heavy Makeup – This one isn't normally an issue because we include hair and makeup in our sessions.  But sometimes we might run a special that doesn't include it.  In those cases, I strongly recommend getting a makeup artist for your session. You don’t want to slather the makeup on too thickly. It’s more about accentuating your natural features and making you feel – and look – stunning.

Forgetting to shave/wax – Always remember to shave or wax any exposed area (this also includes your crack ;-) ) that needs to look smooth and sexy. The ‘au naturel’ look is so ‘70s. Unless you’re going for that vibe, please remember this tip.

Sam Q - A Brand Ambassador Goodbye!

Because I'm often suffering from writing blocks, writing blogs is a huge chore for me and as a result, I missed out on sharing this babe's images with you.  Sam signed up to be on of my 2018 Brand Ambassadors but took a job out of state and moved at the beginning of June.  While she's still repping me over in Texas, she can't quite fulfill all her duties here in Tucson.

Why do you think you'd be an awesome Brand Ambassador?

I was always very passionate about women empowerment in college and I'm active on social media. I believe in the message you convey and want to take away any negative stigma associated with boudoir to show people how beautiful it is.

Tell me a bit about yourself.

I'm a pretty social person. I like going dancing and hanging out with my friends either at game nights or downtown. I'm just now learning and expanding my knowledge about being sexy and learning to love myself so I want to share that.

I actually met Sam through work (my day job) and we hit it off early on.  She even took me dancing at the now-defunct Denim & Diamonds.  Granted I'm not much of a two-stepper, she's pretty damn good and I imagine she'll be enjoying the Texas nightlife soon.

An Adventure in Couples

A few months back I decided to take on a bit of a challenge.  At the request of a previous client, I popped my couples cherry AND my BDSM couples cherry.  Cuz if you're going to go big, go really big!  I think it is best shared by the subjects in question.  Read on...

I am not sure many of you know about the adventure I took recently. Krista took on a project that was new for her and pushed the limit of her skills. My Husband and I were her first couples shoot. Here is the journey from a male's perspective. It's a bit of a read :)

A Dominant’s Perspective on a Boudoir Photography Session

My memory is a bit fuzzy on how it started. Like most couples, my sub and I took pictures of our excursions, to share with friends and family. Geocaching in the Dragoons. Hand Grenades in New Orleans. Nights at the opera, a visit to the Air and Space museum.

Later, we hired a close friend to take our engagement pictures at an abandoned greyhound track.

So when my sub mentioned that she had met a boudoir photographer and was interested in having a couple’s shoot, I didn’t voice any concerns. After all, it’s easier to agree to something if there isn’t any sort of deadline. Ladies, take note.

Weeks passed, and I noticed that my sub was requesting more and more time to spend with her friend Krista, the elusive photographer. Eventually, my sub showed samples of her work; it was simply stunning and made me reconsider what I had tentatively agreed to. This went far beyond playing dress up and posing. What I saw in those pictures was raw emotion, a piece of someone’s most vulnerable side exposed and captured to perfection. Their nature and essence immortalized in high-definition format.

We met up with Krista for drinks and to discuss what the shoot would entail. I’ll admit to being a bit apprehensive, as I’m not one to trust easily. That goes double when the topic involves the relationship with my sub and my sexual preferences. Krista, fortunately, made it easy. She explained that she was looking to start doing couple shoots and asked if my sub and I would be willing to help develop some new techniques. Her attitude, somewhere between easygoing professional and carefree artist, won me over. I picked a date for the shoot, several months out to give myself some time to prepare.

Let’s be honest: at forty-one, I’m a bit past my prime. I started out by hitting the gym more aggressively, often up to 6 times a week. My sub introduced more meal replacement shakes into her diet, and I followed suit by limiting my sugar intake. After a couple months of lifting, watching my diet, and a regimen of supplements, I felt strong.

However, as the deadline approached, I realized that I had neglected to prepare myself emotionally. I am not what most members of the BDSM community would consider a “traditional Dominant”. I don’t bark orders, rule through fear, or humiliate. It is not enough to believe that you should be served; one must strive to show that they are worthy of service. To me, the bondage and sexual elements are only a small part of our relationship. Important, but not as much as the sense of mutual respect and dedication. I wasn’t sure how to convey this to Krista. Photography naturally places an emphasis on the physical realm; it takes real skill to convey true emotion as well.

On the day of the shoot, I settled on a dark suit (yes, a bit cliché but I’m comfortable wearing one) and a simple pair of jeans with a white t-shirt. My sub packed a few suitcases worth of outfits and shoes. From my collection, I picked a few favorites: a double loop flogger, a crop, a nice bullwhip (just for show), handcuffs, manacles, and some stocks that I had made from leopardwood.

I was impressed with Krista’s small but elegant studio, which offered a variety of backgrounds, textures, furniture, and lighting options. I set to rigging up a hook in the ceiling and running some chain while my sub got her make up done in the other room. It was also a great opportunity to talk with Krista about what she was looking for, and how my sub and I usually interact. One thing that I wasn’t comfortable with was the term “scene”. To me, a scene implies something staged, something inherently false. What I do with my sub isn’t acting, it is very real. She suffers because pain brings a sense of tranquility. She suffers because it pleases me. And on very rare occasions, she suffers because her behavior requires it.

It was initially difficult for me to strike a balance between accurately representing our lifestyle and giving Krista some good material to work with. Fortunately, she’s a pro, and was able to work around me while making some suggestions that would yield a better picture. Eventually, I got used to the occasional pause, shifting positions, changing implements and restraints. My sub took it all in stride and provided the emotional element that is so critical to good art. We learned to improvise, and even though it didn’t quite qualify as a real pain session, it was fun. My sub and I left the studio physically and emotionally exhausted, but content.
A few weeks later, we gathered in the studio again for the reveal. Krista presented us with a nice variety of packages, which included choices for an album or pieces of wall art. She had already done a great deal of work, reducing thousands of images down to a hundred or so for us to choose from. This proved to be much harder than I had anticipated, as every one of them was excellent. We opted for a leather-bound album of about 40 pictures, and a gorgeous piece of metallic wall art.

Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. The process was physically and emotionally draining, but Krista’s work turned out to be priceless. She was able to capture the true nature of our relationship, from a perspective that I couldn’t have seen any other way. Each photo represents a unique facet of our relationship, for us to reflect on and appreciate as we continue our journey together.

Say Hello To Brand Ambassador Sam G!

Sam is one of my amazing ambassadors for 2018!  She's actually 1 of 2 Sam's that are Ambassadors!  She's originally from California but moved here (yay!) to pursue her schooling and career in the veterinary field.

She considers herself and old soul and enjoys retro & older things.

"I've always been fascinated with boudoir photography and have never had the courage to do it. i always told myself, it's not the right time, I'm not thin enough to do it. As I got older I came to realize that it will never be "the right time" I finally decided to do it because I'm starting to fall back in love with myself. I'm finally becoming more and more comfortable with who I am in my own skin. I would like to empower other women who aren't "super model standard" that you can do anything you want as long as you love yourself."

"I want to remember the current mindset that i have, self love always comes first. Don't let anyone tell you your worth, just because you aren't their form of beautiful, you should think that you are your own kind of beautiful."

Why did you want to be an Ambassador?

I have become an ambassador to help spread the message of self love and confidence. And why the heck not!

How To Find The Right Boudoir Photographer

So you've decided you want to get some boudoir photos done.  Whether for you (its always for you) or for a gift (which is really for you), you want to be comfortable with the photographer you're taking your clothes off with.  Err...for.  Mine stay on.

First thing you need to decide is male or female.

This is really a personal choice.  You should also consider your significant other's feelings on the matter.  I know some guys who would not be happy with their SO and a male photographer.  So start there.  Men and women are going to have very different perspectives of you.  Neither are wrong, simply different.

Now, your budget.

Like everything, there's a WIDE expanse of price points.  Examine your potential photographer's portfolio closely and ensure there is consistency among what they are showing.  Also be sure you understand what is included in your session.  Some photographers include hair and makeup.  Others sell images separately.  Read the details carefully and ask questions if you are unsure.  I'd rather get asked a ton of questions upfront than have an unhappy client after the fact.

Are you two peas in a pod?

Read through the photogs website and social media.  Do they sound like someone you'd be comfortable with?  You don't have to be besties and you don't have to agree with everything but you should at least feel like you can get through a drink together without a ton of weird silence.

Is the style you want?

Some photographers are light & airy shooters.  Other's are dark & moody.  Some like color, some like black & white.  Again, check out your prospective photogs portfolio.  If you love the light, bright images and their portfolio is filled with moody dark images you will probably walk away unhappy.  Do you like superposed images or something a little more fluid?  Full body or lots of detail?  Do your research.

What happens to your images?

I honestly don't know a photographer who has a hard and fast rule on client image usage*.  For example, I have all my clients fill out a privacy policy that outlines what images I can use and where I can use them.  Some are cool with all their images used anywhere, others only want non-identifiable images on my website.  I understand that sometimes you might want to spread your joy far and wide but maybe your job doesn't really allow for that.  Or maybe this is a special gift for your spouse and you only want him to see.  Understand the usage of your images.

(*many photographers will run model calls or portfolio updates where they offer a complimentary or discount session in exchange for use of your images.  Again, read the details.)

5 Reasons To Stop Putting Off A Boudoir Session

Everyone always gives me reasons to not do a boudoir session.  Sometimes they are somewhat valid, other times they just plain suck.  So let's talk about some of them.  5 of them to be exact.

1. "I need to lose weight"

To be pretty broad brush, who doesn't?  It's not so much that we want to lose weight, but you want to hit the gym, eat a little better, say bye bye to a few extra pounds.  But let me be blunt here - that 5 or 10 lbs you are telling me you need to lose...how long have you been trying to lose it?  Are you actively trying to lose weight (if so, and you want to wait, I totally get it).  But if you're not actively making changes to your eating and exercise and you're giving me that reason....you need to stop and think about it.

First of all, we can definitely highlight the areas you love and de-emphasize those you don't.  Plus I need you to celebrate the you of TODAY.  Not the future you, not the past you.  Regardless of your size, you are beautiful and I want to show you that.

2. "I'm not sexy or photogenic"

Yeah, I hear that one a lot.  Like a lot.  Go browse through the pictures on this site.  Click over to my Facebook page or Instagram.  I'd say 90+% of those women told me that.  I will pose and coach you to amazing images.  I will even tell you how to breathe.  I promise you're going to love the images.

3. "I don't have anyone to give it to"

So?  You do stuff for yourself yes?  You get pedicures because they make your toes cute.  You get a massage to be relaxed.  You buy the cute shoes because...well, they are just cute.  So why not gift yourself this?  A day where you get pampered and a fabulous reminder to celebrate yourself daily.  I have a couple of big prints in my bathroom that are a great reminder when I'm not feeling super awesome that I'm still beautiful and I'm capable of amazing things.  How do you say no to that?

4. "It's expensive"

Yes.  Yes, it is.  I'm not going to deny it.  In large part, I want this to be a buy once, cry once experience (though I'm always happy to have you come back!).  Just like there are varying degrees of quality clothing, there are varying degrees of quality photographers.  Some are going to be less expensive than I am and others are more.  I want you to know that I want to provide the best for my clients - that's why my sessions include hair & makeup, drinks, personal coaching and an ever-expanding client wardrobe.  It's why I only offer you quality products from labs I can trust.  Plus, I offer payment plans so that you can take home ALL of your favorite images and you don't have to walk away feeling like you missed out.

5. "It's only for brides or young"

Nope.  While I do have a lot of brides (kind of a result of displaying at bridal shows!) I do have a lot of women in their 40's & 50's.  One thing I want you to keep in mind is that the images you see here, on my social media have all been approved by the client.  You get a say on which images I can use and where they can be used.  So some ladies are willing to share them all, some pick a few and others want to keep them all private.  It's totally up to you!

What About Props?

You've booked your session and now it's time to prepare your outfits, but what about props? Should you bring them or no?

When preparing for your session, there is a fine line between tasteful and tacky.  I want you to love your images and I certainly don't  want them to look like something straight out of the 80's!  To be blunt with you, I'd rather you NOT bring anything with you.  I completely understand bring items that are sentimental so if there is something of interest you'd like to bring, drop me a note and let's decide together.

Preparing For Your Shoot

t's YOUR turn to be a model for a day! We talk a lot on how to get your outfits ready, but how do you get your body ready!? Well, here are some tips from Retorse Management (a modeling agency based out of Texas) has to offer it's models and the same applies to YOU:

A models life revolves around how well prepared they are for a shoot! Check out the list of 5 things Top Models do before a photoshoot that helps them look their best!

1. SLEEP
This is the most obvious and most crucial thing to do the night before a photoshoot. Get an entire 8 hours of sleep. You need to preform your best and you need to look rested.
2. Hydrate
Water is key to good skin. The entire week of a shoot we recommend clients up their water intake.
3. Stretch
How do you pull off poses? You stretch! We recommend at least an hour of stretching or yoga the entire week before a shoot.
4. Nix the Salt
No one likes the bloat associated with extra salt intake. Limit your salt intake and increase your fresh vegetables.
5. Moisturize
Coconut oil is our favorite. Though we don’t recommend using oil an hour prior to a shoot, we definitely recommend using it the night before!

We hope these tips help you look your best for your shoot!

Take Charge And Don't Apologize

Sam is a fabulous return client who volunteered to fill into a last minute opening for me.  We decided to have a little fun with some more low light looks and trying out some new poses that I was working on coaching.

I had tried my hand at making a tulle skirt (which I did quite poorly mind you!) but Sam was game to give it a shot and I'm glad we did.  We created some dreamy looking images - and we took it outside to play as well!

I had been wanting to do a sheet session so we worked through some ideas and worked on keeping all the important bits covered!

Birthday Boudoir Sessions

Birthday Boudoir!

Celebrate your birthday in style! So your birthday is coming up and your friends and family are talking about what restaurant you want to go to. Or maybe you are struggling trying to find a babysitter so you can actually a drink with your spouse for once? I have a better idea. Leave all that cliché stuff behind and have a boudoir shoot!

What an awesome way to celebrate you, the year that just passed and the year that awaits! Birthdays aren’t just one of those “Hallmark holidays” – they are a celebration of your birth and of all that you have brought to the world in the past year. Give yourself a well-deserved day of pampering – the lead up is fun, the day itself is epic and the afterglow lasts and lasts; your products and the memories live on forever. Frankly, its not uncommon to have a boudoir shoot every year for your birthday.

Besides, you can always go out to a fancy meal afterwards while you are still basking in the adventure of your session and rockin’ your styled hair and make-up!

Little Girls With Dreams Become Women With Vision

Ms. P came to me to put together a gift for her boyfriend.  Since they were in a long distance relationship at the time I wanted to put together something to wow him until they could be back together!

What specifically was your favorite part of our time working together, and why?
My favorite part of the Boudoir session was the day of the photo shoot. I loved having a day for me. I felt beautiful and comfortable in my own skin. I enjoyed having my hair and makeup done. It was like playing dress up and for a while I was able to let loose.

If you were to recommend a session to a friend, what would you tell them?
This is not a cheap venture. You need to know exactly what your getting yourself into financially, but if you are willing and able to spend the money, the quality is great. It's a fantastic experience that all women should try. Feeling beautiful in front of a camera is empowering.

Is there anything else you want to share?
Encourage your clients to make the whole day about them. Go get a mani/pedi or a massage. Help yourself relax and do only the things you want to do. My experience only lasted as long as the session which I was bummed about.
